Joshua Harmon’s Bad Jews will make its way back off-Broadway this fall for a run at the Laura Pels Theatre, beginning September 20, 2013. Original Bad Jews cast members Tracee Chimo, Philip Ettinger, Molly Ranson and Michael Zegen will all reprise their roles in the show, which is helmed by returning director Daniel Aukin.
Bad Jews, which is a darkly hilarious take on family, faith and legacy, premiered at Roundabout Underground’s 62-seat Black Box Theatre on October 30, 2012, but the new production will move upstairs to the 420-seat Laura Pels Theatre in the Harold and Miriam Steinberg Center for Theatre. The original production extended its sold-out run for two weeks before closing on December 30.
As Bad Jews marked the inaugural production of Roundabout’s Underground Reading series in February 2012, the company has also announced its five-night event of new play readings for this year, running from February 25 through March 1 at the Black Box Theatre. This year’s series will feature Jonathan Caren’s The Recommendation, Rachel Bonds’ Swimmers, Mat Smart’s Tinker to Evers to Chance, Christian Durso’s Shine and Kate Gersten’s Benefit of the Doubt.
